New Zealand is at COVID-19 Alert Level 1. All on-campus services like our libraries, recreation centres and some food outlets, are open.
For Semester 2, students will have a blended learning experience that offers greater flexibility and online learning support, alongside face-to-face teaching for internal students.
More course material will be available online to give you greater flexibility if you need to be away from campus due to illness, travel restrictions, or other reasons. This also means we will be better prepared if the COVID-19 situation worsens.
There will be some differences between the approaches of each college due to the nature of their courses, but these are our general principles:
If you can’t attend face-to-face activities, and your course has required studios, labs, field-trips, placements or on-farm activities, you should discuss this with your course coordinator at the start of the semester. They will work with you to provide additional opportunities to allow you to complete all the required course components.
On these pages you will find which components of each course will be offered online and/or face-to-face.
Changes to your course’s delivery mode will not impact your financial assistance from StudyLink. The University will update StudyLink if semester dates change and StudyLink will adjust your payments accordingly. Find out more below about the Government's COVID-19 support package for students.
The Study Abroad and Student Exchange programmes have been affected by the Government’s ongoing advice to avoid international travel and border closures globally.
Given the Government’s ongoing advice to avoid international travel and border closures globally, we have suspended all student exchanges for Massey students scheduled to start in Semester 2, 2020. If an exchange fits into your studies next year, you are encouraged to defer your application, rather than withdrawing it. There are no fees for deferring or withdrawing your application. Exchange or Study Abroad students currently in New Zealand and studying at Massey can choose to either return home or continue their studies with us during Semester 2. As there is no indication as to when New Zealand’s borders will reopen to international travellers, inbound student exchanges are currently suspended. International students who would like to explore the option of studying online with Massey during Semester 2, or to apply for a student exchange in 2021, should email email@example.com for more information.
Massey University Student Health and Counselling Centres are “back to normal”, with appointments primarily being undertaken face-to-face. However, you can request an appointment by telephone, if this is your preference.
All on-campus student services are now open, including food outlets, recreation centres, early childhood centres, computer labs, the library and information desks.
